The Original Pantry Cafe

OK, with hours of 7 am to 7 pm they might not qualify for “late-night” but if you’re still awake when the sun comes up – or if you have to head Downtown for some random reason — this is your place.  So old-school they only accept cash in the restaurant – call your order in. This might be the best idea ever since the line typically stretches around the block.  877 South Figueroa.  213-972-9279.

101 Coffee Shop on Franklin

This funky throwback Diner is open until 3 a.m. – no inside seating yet, but until we can slide back into those brown leather banquettes, treat yourself.  Breakfast is served all day.  Try the fried egg sandwiches or the No “Huevos” Rancheros with tofu. The mac and cheese dish is infamous.  So are their desserts.  Order the cake in a jar.  Just do it.  6145 Franklin Avenue in Hollywood.

Kitchen 24

Like it says in the name, 24 – but right now they are open from 9 am to 11:30 pm for take out.  Put this place on your “first thing I’m gonna do list” because their bartenders are the most generous around with $15 bottomless bloodies and mimosas every Saturday.  Try the BBQ pork sliders or the Big Baller – meatballs, marinara, provolone, Hogie roll, topped with parm and basil.

Employees Only WeHo

Their current hours, open only until 8 pm doesn’t quality for late-night but they do qualify for “Brilliant.”  They have Cocktail Kits!  All you have to do is add ice and shake for 8-seconds!  Ginger Smash, the Besos Caliente, The Billionaire, Ready, Fire, Aim – are all delicious and make you the best bartender EVER.
